My name is Shannon Northey, and I was born on March 15th, 2001. I have two younger brothers, and a dog named Cody. I attend Garnet Valley High School, and I am involved in many activities there. I am a member of Interact, Peer Counselors, Educators Rising, and French Club. I also traveled to France with the French Club over the summer before my junior year. It was a great experience for me to experience another culture. In addition to school, I am on a competitive dance team at Kicks Academy of Dance. I also have a part time job working at Chester Bethel Preschool.
About Me
Working with Children
Since I was younger, I have had a passion for working with, and helping children. In 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th grade I student taught younger girls at my dance studio. In 10th grade I decided I wanted to do more with working with children, so I started working at Chester Bethel Preschool. I love working there, enjoy teaching the children different things. In addition, I also do many things at my high school that incorporate my career path of wanting to be a teacher. I am the vice president of Educators Rising which is a club for students who want to be teachers. I have also taken preschool lab my sophomore and junior year. This, as well as my job, are great experiences for me with working with children. In addition, I hope to take field experience next year which is where I can observe and teach in an elementary classroom.
Dance
I have been dancing since I was three, and I cannot imagine my life without it. When I was in third grade, I was invited to join the company team at my dance studio. The company team is an invitation only team where you compete in many competitions. This was a huge accomplishment for me, and I was very excited to join. Since then I have danced at least four days a week, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. When I was in 6th grade I did my first solo, and when i was in 11th grade I self choreographed my solo for the first time.
